In order to investigate the causes of the problems of software development projects and contracts, the universities at Mannheim and Freiburg administered a survey in 2009/2010 among small and medium enterprises in the Software, Mechanical Engineering, IT-Media, Medical Technology, Metrology, Automotive Supplier, Technology Services, Control and Electrical Engineering branches in the german state of Baden-Württemberg.
